John Lennon fumbled over the lyrics to the second verse in their original take, heard in this recording, and the band performed the song again.

Formed in 1971, the soul trio performed around Philadelphia before gaining national attention on Soul Train and American Bandstand. Their music has been sampled by artists including Mary J. Blige and J Cole.
