In the 2018 film Candy Jar, tensions run high between dueling high school debaters, Lona (Sami Gayle) and Bennett (Jacob Latimore), and their feuding mothers. We were thrilled to find The Airplanes’ track, “A Summer Daydream Part 1,” that carries the energy of this short sequence from the teenagers’ restless pre-debate night to their mothers’ morning hallway spat.
